Good Luck, have fun all!
not the best players for Latvia though
Somehow I managed to get some tears while watching that music video
Regarding the composition of Latvian team, it looks that there is only one Latvian website dedicated to StarCraft II – Zergiem.lv. This is the only way for us to reach Latvian SC2 community. All Latvian SC2 players should contact them in order to participate in future Baltic Friendly tournaments. Everyone will be able to register into Baltic Cup on individual basis though.
A skilled Latvian SC2 player said in zergiem.lv forums
[translated]
“TBH I don’t see anyone from the top 10 LV players here”
And when some1 asked where are the best Latvian players he answered
http://www.goodgame.ru/index.php?sc2tv.ru
http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2
So yeah.. Zergiem.lv is very unpopular among Latvian SC2 gamers. Those players who are there are mainly just a “group of friends”.
This answer will be from the perspective of a tournament organizer and Lithuanian SC2 community manager.
First of all, there is only 1 (max. 2) Lithuanian Top 10 player in this match, so I think match is mostly even
It is so, because it’s kind of test match and there was not enough time for the qualifiers and etc. It’s a friendly match so who cares
Anyway I consider it as a small success, because we created some good connections with Latvian and Estonian players, learned new tournament system.
Regarding where good LV players reside. I checked both websites:
http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/database.php?sokord=&country=Latvia&race=&cat=
Lists only one Latvian player and there is no option to search members by their country.
Same with goodgame.ru. So being tourney organizer I don’t have time nor ability to hunt down best players on the internet. Even if I would be able to identify couple of them, there would be always question – are they best? I’m not so familiar with Latvian or Estonian SC2 communities, so I could organize qualifiers… Best deal for me is to have one point of contact – one person or one site, which will take care of all the national peculiarities
Talking about Zergiem.lv, I really support what these guys are doing, because at the end of the day, there should be separate Latvian and Estonian communities with their own websites. Many Lithuanian players are members of Team Liquid, Gosu Gamers and other communities, where they discuss general questions about StarCraft II, but we have our own “home”, where we can discuss our national and personal matters
Zergiem.lv is not very popular, because it’s very young project, but the fact that it’s being created by the bunch of friends is really encouraging – I started this site alone
So they should be really OK.
For the closing, I think it is in best interest of every country to have place where players can meet, make contacts and discuss questions. So just join those guys and make the site popular, it will be good for you and convenient for us: win-win
Well it’s not like Estonians have too their tip-top pros out. It’s basically 2 friends and then 2 more people we’ve found on a local tech pricing website (yep, not even SC related).
